My friend and I recently tried out Salford’s latest trendy addition to the late night bar scene, Menagerie. On the outskirts of Spinningfields, on New Bailey Street, Menagerie opened in the Summer to much fanfare and promised an interactive and decadent visit.
Gold leaf covers the main bar and the split level seating is all designed with performance in mind. Acrobatic hoops sit above some of the tables and there’s a central catwalk through the centre of the room to allow for fashion shows and dancers.
The drinks & food equally form part of the show. We ordered the funfair themed dessert platter which is served in a ferris wheel for £16. It was full of sweet treats including edible bubbles & candy floss. We were also generously given a matching drinks ferris wheel of lightbulbs filled with Passoa cocktails.
The staff were incredibly friendly & knowledgable and the design was very impressive but the desserts we tried didn’t quite live up to our taste expectations. However, we loved the theatre of it and took plenty of photos which I’m sure most customers at Menagerie do. As a fashionable place to be seen and certainly as a welcome addition to the Salford night scene, Menagerie is probably here to stay.
